Dan laughed and repleid, [Your horrible at shooting dumbass!] He laughed againa as he saw the woods and lightly tapped Carhartt's barrel with the old warn spurs and he bolted into the woods. Dan the slowly stopped him as he slid and Dan looked averywhere seeing nothing. he sighed and let Carhartt walk very slowly as Dan's colorblind blue eyes looked for any movement for he saw no differnece in color in his world.

"If I am, it's only because your aim has rubbed off on me!" He let Mick dart after the buckskin, he never even wore spurs when riding the paint. He'd trained Mick from a baby and sometimes he thought the stallion could read his mind. "So are we going after coyotes and stuff or do you feel particularly bloodthirsty today?" Ranchers often went out hunting the predators that bothered the cattle.

Slowly Dan replied, [Forgot how to hunt dumba.ss? Shut the hell up or be quite. Don't even think of shooting deer and antelope, or buffalo but anything else is fine.] He slowly urged Carhartt forward as his eyes caught something. It was a bird on a birck tree as Dan looked up then infront of him looking for somthing bigger and meaner.

Shut the H*ll up or be quiet, how will I ever decide which?" Andy was more of a fisher than a hunter. Hunting was too much sitting around and being quiet. He did like to occasionally get up early and go duck hunting or deer hunting. He gave Mick a loose rein and pulled out the rifle. Might as well be ready if something interesting did stray across their path.

Dan slowly looked behind him and they had barely gottenn into the woods for he could still see the plains and he kicked Carhartt into fourth gear as they cantered for a awhile not to slow but controlable. Dan decided he should jump something. There was a shitload of animals out here.

Andy held back Mick, keeping him at a walk as he followed Dan. He wasn't quite sure why Dan was so eager to shoot something today. Maybe it was because of all the sh*t happening with his kid or niece or whatever.

Dan wasn;t eager to kill anything he wanted to get away from the anch. Right now Kari was all in his mind. He sighed looking around and let Carhartt do a light trot. He looked at the slow cowpoke and alughed lightly and urged Carhartt on.

Andy just rolled his eyes and gave Mick his head. The paint stepped into an easy jog. It was a nice day and he sisn't have any where to be. Life was quite good. He stifled a yawn and looked around. Squirrels were bustling about and birds were singing from the trees, but he saw nothing that warranted a bullet.

Slowly Carhartt stopped without command. He side stepped uneasily. Dan knew there was either wolf, cougar, or bear. Dan grabbed his un check to see if it was loaded and clicked the saftey. He urged Carhartt on as the buckskin stallion walked slowly farther very uneasily as Dan looked vor any movement, even in the trees. Never can be tooooo sure. He looked around as he saw nothing, atleast not yet.

Mick caught whatever scent Carhartt had picked up on and gave an uneasy snort. Andy shifted his grip on the rifle, and glanced around. He didn't see anything, but the horses obviously thought something wasn't right.

Dan slowly looked around as he kept urging Carhartt on...... Sudenly movement cuaght his color blind eyes. Dan stopped Carhartt emeditly. He looked to where the movemnet had been and saw nothing then. Suddenly the silence broke. A huge very huge scream was let out of a 16 foot high kodiak bear that Montana had been famous for. Dan knew with for all their lives this bear wouldn't go down with a few 30-06 bullets. Carhart screamed back and reared as Dan leaned forward as he kept great balance. The second the stallions feet hit the ground Dan kicked him hard with the spurs and they were off as they bolted the fastes that stud had ever gone. It was life or death. They went deeper and deeper in the woods as Dan looked back to see that Andy would HOPEFULLY follow.

Andy's lingering head ache flew out of the window as they were suddenly confronted by the biggest bear he'd seen in his life. Mick didn't bother rearing, he whipped around and took off at a dead run. Andy considered turning in the saddle and sending some lead in the bear's direction, but figured pissing it off further probably wasn't a good idea.

As Dan looked back he kicked his stud in fith gear and they flew even faster. The bear wasn't slowl either. It ran real fast as it chased them as it had to weigh both the huge studs together. Dan really didn't have fear for himaelf but for Andy, Carhartt, and Mick. Looking back he then pushed the buckskin forward as the bear broke through small pines and ran straight though heavy brush gaining aolt on them.

Mick was no slouch himself and was running flat out, but such speed was dangerous in the tangle of the woods. The paint stumbled in his haste to avoid a large pine and Andy was sent flying over his shoulder. It wasn't a hard fall and he scrambled quickly to his feet, still holding the rifle he'd managed not to drop. He jacked a shell into the chamber and took hasty aim at the bear's massive head. A shot directly to the brain might just do the trick. He squeezed the trigger and jacked another shell into the chamber and fired again, but the bear had only slowed for a second and was quickly closing the gap.

Dad let Carhartt go as he heard the paint then saw Andy wasn't there. Suddenly Carhartt slid on a dime and was now headed to Andy. Carhartt saw the massive bear and heard the gunfires but the guns were nothing close to new Dan pulled the gun out as he knew not shoot a bear in the head. Their skulls ar so strong hey canhold a bullet and keep it from entering their brain so he aimed at its heart as it lounged at Andy. A gunfire was smoked and the bear lounged at Andy. Carhartt backed up uncontrollably as Dan shoot again at its back as it screamed with pain.
