Darryl relaxed a tiny bit before looking around at everything not really sure what the hell to do with himself in this little redneck town. he didn't like it at all. the only blood station you could get was country. Darryl would rather be able to go out partying. he hadn't really met anybody that would keep him here. Running a hand through his short black hair he glanced around a tiny bit looking at the plains not really sure what the hell to talk about.. hell there was nobody to talk too so where the hell did that thought come from?
Shaking his head softly he placed his pick--up truck bed down and just lay ed flat on his back looking up at the stairs. he wasn't sure anymore what he wanted to do in life. he was enjoying being a FBI agent but maybe he didn't want to live through the stress of being one? taking a deep breath he shoved his hands into his jean pockets has his legs swing ed back and froth off the bed of the truck. not really sure what he wanted to do in life anymore. he just wanted somebody to talk too. hell he had to find his mother and his sister!

Once again, Karen should have been in the house, unpacking and organizing her new life, but it was much too pretty of an evening. So she had saddled up Surprise and hit the trails again. She'd explored the woods the last time, so she decided to head out on one of the plains trails. Her dogs, Shasta and Roy came with her again. They ran along happily, darting off to chase rabbits and prairie dogs.
She kept Surprise at a walk. Stepping in a prairie dog hole at a gallop could cause a broken leg. She heard the dogs barking and Surprise gave a nervous whinny. Karen frowned into the darkening sky and put a hand on the rifle that was sheathed against the saddle. She had it for protection against the predators that were known to inhabit this area. She'd heard that bear and mountain lines were pretty common. So she was quite surprised that instead of a bear, she found her dogs barking and wagging their tails at a truck.

Darryl shut his eyes for a moment and listened to the wind rising a eyebrow for a moment while he heard sounds.. blinking for a moment he didn't bother sitting up but touched his hand gun before sitting up a little bit and scanning around the darkness. Darryl learned to hold a gun when he was younger. of course nobody showed him how. he learned by himself when he was about 17.
Placing the gun on his thigh when he sat up and spotted a horse and a female she just looked at her.. before looking at the dogs and give them a playful bark to them before laughing and looking up at the girl "Hello there!" he said and smiled.

Roy and Shasta were friendly dogs and would have made terrible guard dogs although if something serious happened, they would probably fight for Karen. Roy was a big yellow lab and Shasta was an even bigger Rhodesian Ridgeback. They wagged their tails for a few more seconds before dashing back out to explore, Shasta nipping at Roy's ear.
Surprise snorted and sidestepped. Karen pulled her to a stop and patted her neck reassuringly. She hadn't been expecting to run into anyone out here, especially not at this hour. She slid agilely from the saddle, keeping a tight hold on her slightly nervous horse. "Hi. Nice night for star watching. I'm Karen." She was a little nervous. This was a strange man and she was all alone. She had a rifle, but she knew better than to think she could ever turn it on a person with any conviction.

"You can come closer.. i wont bite" he said teasing before smiling. it was a charming smile that settled down a pond his lips and stayed there for a little bit. looking at the dogs he said "Nice dogs you got" he said trying to be friendly.

He didn't look all that dangerous. Taller than her, but most guys were, she wasn't particularly tall. She grinned at him, leading Surprise over. "Maybe I bite." She watched the dogs running off, laughing as Shasta grabbed Roy's scruff and Roy suddenly flipped over and Shasta had to release her hold. They rough housed together all the time. "Thanks, they're a pair of goofs. So what brings you out in the middle of nowhere at night?" Karen liked the quiet and the stars and the openess of the prairie. It was so different from where she'd grown up in North Carolina.

"Oh.. i better watch out then " He growled and smirked before looking around. Darryl wasn't the kind to hurt females. nope. he would never hit one.. well he wouldn't hit one unless she was going against the law and being a hard ass to get into the station or get stuff out of her. "Nothing really... just thinking" he replied and grinned for a moment before he stopped grinning "Taking it your out here riding?" he said kinda matter of factly.

Karen was just teasing. She was a little shy, but she wasn't really nervous around guys. "Yep. I'm still avoidig unpacking all my stuff and it's nice out tonight. I'm not much on constellations, but sometimes I can pick out the big dipper or Orion's belt." She wasn't sure whether to mount up and continue her ride or stay and chat for a while. Even in the dark, she could tell the guy was pretty good looking and she was a little tired of the uneducated and unwashed hicks who came into the clinic all the time.

Darryl looked at her before glancing at the box that was be hide him that held his fathers stuff. He was just going to look at them and relax a tiny bit before looking around again. He sat in the back of his Black shinier 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche Swinging his legs back and forth off the back of the bed he looked at her.. "Ah. i see. " Was all he stated feeling kinda wearied for not knowing what else to tell her. Grinning softly he looked down at the green grass before asking 'So.. whats your horse's name?" he asked trying to b nice.

Karen patted the neck of the paint who had began to nibble at the brush in boredemn. "This is Surprise. A fitting name since she was a Christmas present. The two mutts are Shasta and Roy." She could here them a little ways off, racing through the brush, full of curiosity. "You must not be from around here. Your grammar would actually pass an english class and that is not the kind of truck you usually see around here." Karen was a little curious as to what had brought him to a small town. For her, it had been the oppurtunity of owning a vet clinic.

Darryl took note of everything she did just for the hell of it. his hands moved a tiny bit between his thighs "Mind if i ask how old surprise is?" he asked softly and smiled a little bit before looking at the horse.. "I'm from new York" he answered. okay so he was from Ga but he lived and worked in new York. smiling a little bit he glanced be hide his shoulder to look at his truck.

Karen could talk for hours about horses. She was a vet after all. "She's about 17, which is getting on up there for a horse. I've had her for 12 years." Karen had gotten her as a Christmas present from her grandfather, who had since passed away, making the mare even more special. "New York huh? I'm a small town girl, but this town is a little smaller than even I'm used to. I'm a beach bum originally, from North Carolina."

Darryl smiled a little bit "ah i see. North Carolina is a pretty good place to live" he said swinging his legs like a child before smirking a tiny bit. being very playful at the moment for some reason he peaked out to wards the dogs before looking back at her " How long have you been riding for?" he asked and smiled. Darryl was just trying to get a good talk going.

Karen had loved growing up in North Carolina. She missed the beach and her family. She visited about twice a year because plane tickets were so expensive. "I miss it, but the mountains here are pretty amazing. I like it too." She groundtied Surprise and moved over to lean against his truck. "For a while. I guess I started riding when I was seven. My parents set up lessons and then I got a horse a couple years later. Do any riding in New York?" He didn't look like much of a rider.

" No.. i don't do any riding in new York.. father used to know a large farm and i only went riding once.." was all he said before grinning at her.. enjoying how she looked. clasping his hand together before unclasping his hand before slowly sliding it down his legs to his knees. "so.. you go on these.. midnight rides a lot?" he asked and smiled a tiny bit
