Ashleigh stepped out of the old pickup truck, stepping out onto the gravel road. Her tennis shoes scrapping against the dirt. "Thanks..D..dan." taking a look at the outline of the beautiful guest house she smiled faintly. It had a warm welcoming feeling to it. She wanted Dan to come in and help her adjust, but she wasn't going to ask him because he probably hated her for figuring out her secret. Sighing she jammed her hands into her back pockets and shrugged her shoulders in effort to loosen them up she stepped into the door. It was very nice in here, there were already a few furniture purchased for the house, which was very good because she didn't bring anything along with her,she would recieve too many terrible memories that she would never forget.

Matt had just finished feeding all of the horses and on this ranch, that was a lot of damn horses. His own horse, Tex, had been trailered in earlier that day and he'd settled the little gelding in and gave him a good grooming after finishing with the other horses. He hadn't seen a bunk house around and he hadn't made arrangements with the boss about that yet. He could drive into town and crash at the hotel, but he didn't want to spend money for a crappy bed. He would sleep just as well in the bed of his truck on his bedroll. Not the first time, probably wouldn't be the last. He was heading around behind the stable, passing the guest house, when the half breed dog at his heels gave a low growl. Matt was instantly alert. But he recognised the form of his new employer and a girl. Probably nothing he should be bargin into. Funny that he wasn't taking her up to his house. "Rebel!" The low, sharply spoken word instantly quieted the dog. "Sorry boss, ma'am. He's a good watch dog."

Dan helped her get out taking her hand for his truck was lifted about seven inches and huge tires. He had to trucks and old black F-350 Ford truck and brand new one. He drove his old one the most. As he helped her he heard a dog growling and he saw a wolf looking dog that he had never seen before. Dan turned hearing that new amature cowboy really seeming not to smart and Dan went off. He thought the dog might have bitten Ashley and if it did Dan would have grabbed his 12 gauge out of his gun rack in his truck and shot it right then and there. He replied as his vocals deepened and louder , [God Damn! I never said you could have this mutt on my ranch! I want it gone now, and I don't care how! A guard dog aint SHIT around her, cowboy.] The word cowboy came out as a sneer in a mocking way. He hated when people thought they could do whatever they want especialy when they were on HIS property.

Ashleigh jumped back when the dog lunged at them and growled, but thankfully it didn't bite them. When she had jumped back she had jumped into Dan's arms, obviously afraid of the dog that looked more like a wolf than a dog. Trembling she froze, it felt as if you could hear her heartbeat could be heard. Steadying herself she stared at the dog, now quieted and at the rancher's command. "I..I.." she looked up at Dan and took a step back, embarrassed that she had jumped into his arms. "I always screw up!"she muttered to herself lowly so that he possibly couldn't hear. Pushing her arms behind her back sh kicked up some dirt and waited for someone to reply.

Dan Felt her jump in his arms and he of course out of reflex held her tight then when she wanted go he let go feeling only a TINY bit emberassed but didn't show it. He sratched his head and left the ignoarant per say "cowboy" and walked to the guess house and opened it replying, [Come'n? I'll get you all situated and everything.] He smiled lightly and held the door for her smiling then glared at the man still there who he had previously got angry at and then loooked back at her nicely being friendly and wonderinbg ifshe was ok.

Matt wasn't sure what the big deal was. Reb was still right by his side, several feet away from the upset pair. He'd been trained to growl at strangers. It was a pretty handy thing when you were guarding the cattle at night and didn't know if an approaching rider was friend or foe. At the glint of the shotgun in the moonlight, Matt's eyes went hard. There was no call to be doing a stupid thing like that. His hand strayed to his side, but he'd left his gunbelt in the truck, not expecting any trouble. Mostly he just wore it out riding, never knew when you might need to kill a snake or scare away a bear. Luckily, the boss seemed more worried about his lady than the dog. Funny how people seemed to equate silence with stupidity. Matt didn't waste words. He'd gone to college, double majored in biology and agriculture, graduated with honors. He wasn't stupid, just quiet. After that little run in, he figured he'd better pack his bags. Not that he had many. But he wasn't getting rid of Reb.

Ashleigh hesitated before motioning her legs that slowly brought her into the guest house. She wasn't angry as to just being frightened. Fingers found themselves yanking out the brown ponytail, letting her auburn hair fall onto her shoulders. A hand ruffled it to make it look natural and she slipped the binder onto her wrist. A gust of warm heat swept over her skinny and slender arms, instantly providing comfort and allowing her to relax from the shock of the hybrid dog. She was fine, no bites, no scratches, just another fear, of dogs. Looking down, she saw her tennis shoes still on as she ventured further into the house. Kneeling down she untied each shoe and slipped them off, setting them by the door and leaving her in her white socks.
"It's a wonderful house Dan."
Her voice was quiet and a bit the admiring tone. Her gaze rested upon a small bedroom. The closet handles were carved and had horse heads, the bed was covered in horse sheets. The walls painted with Thoroughbreds racing on it. It was beautiful. Without thinking she stepped into the room and flicked on the light. Running a hand over the beautifully made desk she sighed, this was a brilliant room and she loved it more than the rest of the horse designed house. Slowly fingers laced themselves on the handles for the closet and yanked it open. There were shelves and a place to hang her clothes with plenty of room left for storing a few items she soon might pick up.
Turning around, she noticed Dan leaning on the door frame and watching her with a grin on his face. Slightly embarrassed she didn't look into his amazing blue eyes. Sitting on the bouncy bed she propped her hands in her lap and folded them. By far this is where she would spend most of her time if not for the horses. It was her dream though, to own a foal of her own, to train and love and care for, to have a special bond with, but that was a far to impossible dream to obtain, after all, look at her childhood. Yawning, she closed her eyes, and then reopened them. It had been a long day and she needed some rest, but would she feel safe enough to fall asleep without anyone in the house with her?

The house was western decorated with western saddles and cowboy and Texas Longhorn on the walls with the furnitor of a western print. Dan saw she was tired and knew she would need her rest tomorrow was her first day on the ranch and he got up at 4:30 a.m every day to do his chorse. He smiled lightly and his deep rusty redneck vocals replied, [I'm gonna let you get some sleep. A big day ahead of us and you'll want yoor rest. Night, Ahsley.] He smiled lightly as his broad musclar bodice moved from the door fream and his boots pounded the floor hard not caring about the mud that came off, it was his house and and he really oddly cared. He slowly walked and turned tipping his hat to her in respect and flashed his amazing cowboy smile and headed for the front door.

Ashleigh watched him go before reaching over and turning on the purple night light on the end table beside her. Standing up, she paraded to the dresser to see if there were any outfits. To her surprise, there were a ton of outfits in the drawers. Grabbing a pink silk nightgown, she shed her clothes and quickly changed into them then trotted to the comfortable bed. Shutting off the light she laid down, pressing her head to the soft pillow and pulling the blankets over her body. The moon shown through the window on the other side, giving it a dark shadowy look, but it didn't scare her, she was far to comfortable to be scared.
Ash tried her hardest to fall asleep, closing her eyes, counting sheep etc, but none of them seemed to work. Her mind wandered that night, about the horses, about Dan, about..who was that guy and his dog. Deciding it was best for her to think about the horses she pictured her dream in her head. Although she'd adore a Thoroughbred filly, there wasn't a possible way to own a Thoroughbred on this farm was there? She pictured herself leading out the filly on a lead line and running around the pasture with it. Before long she was asleep in bed, a smile on her face. Tomorrow would be an exciting day, now wouldn't it? Could you post as tomorrow now?

The sun was not even up when Dan was already dressed and out the front door of his large house. After him came a male dog called Cinch who was a border collie and young he jumped through the door and ran straight to the barn. It was as if Cinch read Dan's mind for Dan was going to get Carhartt his five year old buckskin stud. Dan walked into the barn with about half the barn filled with horses. These horses were all the horses that one of the ranchers or stable hands and Dan's horse Carhartt. Dan heard a loud thundering nicker sent from Carhartt to Dan as he opened his stall and the atllion came over and softly nudged his pocket and Dan laughed and took out a nice red juicy apple as the stallion bit it in half and juice and foam uzzed from his mouth getting it all over the stall and Dan. Dan luaghed as he slowly slipped a black halter ofer his ears and clipped it walking him slowly out of his stall. He tied him to his stall door and softly but reinforcingly, [Stand.] The stud never moved as Dan brushed his tan pelt. His long mane and tail was all braided and out of the way so he wouldn't rip it out. Is black mane was past his thick muscular neck in the thick braid as his tail was tighed in a not three times so it wouldn't drag umong the ground. The stallion loved the soft and hard strokes as a black saddle pad was put on his back then a heavy dark brown warn show saddle was thrown on his back firmly.
Then The cinch was tightened real tight making sure it was going to stay secure. Dan patted Carhartts thick muscular shoulder whil Cinch his dog ran under Carhartt's long strong muscular legs not caring. A ranch cow working horse had to be use to dogs and them being around their legs so he dodn't care at all. Dan laughed as Cinch had a bone and three other dogs followed him braking playing as they ran throught the barn to the pond and a loud splashing noise and barking as Dan rolled his amazing blue eyes knowing Cinch was the first one to jump in. He untied Carhartt and slipped his halter off as the stallion stood there able to be free and run and maybe be VERY hard to catch but he didn't he just stood loking around trying to see where Dan was. Dan replied in his deep vocals, [Stand.] He walked away into the tac room grabbed a nice warn dark brown leather western bridle and walked back out with Carhartt still standing there not moving and happy as ever. Dan slowly sliped the cold hard steel in the large cheecked stallion showing his studlyness off as he cliped his chin strap and then his throat latch. The stallion shook as the dark thick black braided mane flew and he shook as he lightly let his air out and turned looking at Dan trying to see what he was doing. Dan went once more grabbing a black helmet knowing it would fit Ahsley. Dan NEVER has ever worn a helmet but he knew how a stallion could be if a mare was in heat and sometimes Carhartt had a little bit of the mustang show more then normal but Carhartt seemed ok but Dan didn't want to chance it. He slowly led the stallion with one split rein while the other one was over his saddle. The stallion stepped with heavy feet so western a nd lazy, unless you were gaming or roping, he knew when to go. The time was about 6:00 a.m and her lesson was going to begin very shortly.

The sun shone brightly through the glass windows. With a small yawn, Ashleigh awoke. Her hair tangled and snarly, and she felt sweaty and smelly. Swinging her legs over the side of the bed, she stood up. Her feet finding themselves on the cold wood flooring. Walking to the dresser, she pulled out a pair of jeans, and a pink t-shirt. Slowly she made her way out to the barn, her feet scrapping the ground as she went and once she saw Dan she smiled shyly. What came next was a total shock to her, and probably to him too. Instatly she locked their lips together, but then pulled back, her face totally red. "I..I..I'm sorry..I didn't..k..know what..c..came over m..me" she stuttered quietly, not daring to even look at him, would he be mad?

Dan had gone into the tack room and grabbed black fleece lag raps and then turned to walk out. He wasn't paying much attention to busy thinking of the secret that Ahsley had told him. He turned and saw her and a smile showed up under his black cowboy hat. Then all of a sudden he felt her soft libs on his it was only a peck nothing really big but a huge shocker. Dan stopped with his amazing blue eyes wide in shock as when she stopped he backed a step and tripped almost falling but his warn hand grabbed the door frame and heldon then caught his balance. He looked at her so very surprised. She seemed so scared and unsure of herself yet she already kissed him. He slowly replied with a shacky but deep voice, [Um... That was um.. good...] He had no idea to say but he told her the truth. He slowly walked past her as his axe calon was sent to her and he grabbed Carhartt and turned him to the door and looked back at Ashley and stopped and waited for her to come.

Ashleigh found herself trembling as her chocolate colored eyes slowly raised to meet his gaze. Her arms were covered with goosebumps, and her legs felt like they would give out any second. She felt so stupid, so immature! When Dan answered to her action she let out a shaky breath, unsure whether to believe him or not. Then he sauntered past her, the aroma of his colon found its way into her nostrils, but it did smell quite good. Her hair was tied up into a carefully done ponytail, not allowing her to twist any of her hair that would have fell out, so she stood there for a few moments, not sure of what to do. Today was defiantly not going as she had planned it was supposed to, everything was opposite. She felt as if she had screwed up, by kissing him and whatnot, what if she had scared him away, or worse, made him hate her? Terrible thoughts ran through her mind, she felt like she was trapped in a nightmare she couldn't escape.
When he motioned her to follow him with the handsome stud beside him, she took a deep breath and pushed her legs forward, one step at a time. Her gaze never left the ground, she felt ashamed, and terrible. Why did she have to screw up? Or did she? Ashleigh felt so confused, so lost, so..missunderstood. When she finally reached their sides, only then did she draw her gaze onto the brute before her. He looked so big, so powerful, so dangerous. Instantly she was afraid, what if he bucked her off and she got hurt? When she was a child she wouldn't have been afraid to ride on the back of the equine, now since her rape, she was afraid of most animals, even that one dog she had met the previous day. Would Dan pick up on her nervousness? Small beads of sweat rolled down her forehead, but it wasn't from the heat produced from the sun, it was from getting closer and closer to riding the horse. Her stomach flip flopped. Would she be able to do it? Or would she chicken out? It had always been her dream to ride, now was she going to blow her chances?

He slowly walked down the asle as metal shoes clapped and clanked as Dan tried thinking what to say it was so suprising he had no idea what to say. He sighed walking out in his very nice outfit. With a button up red western shirt tucked into his dark blue carhartt jeans and a black carhartt jacket. He slowly walked to the western pleasure arena. Dan turned Carhartt facing her as he put his nose to her as he smelled her and his togune slapped around her hand then pulled away never trying to bite. He was large and very muscular. He shook hard with his long black mane flapped in the braids. He sighed too as Dan replied, [This is Carhartt. He's a buckskin American Quarter Horse stud. Even though he's a stud he's the sweetest stud you'll ever meet. He's my stud and the onyl horse I ride and own personaly. He does Gaming, Cutting, Roping, Reining, and Western Pleasure. Oh well and of course halter, showmanship, and bareback. Make sure he gets your.. Um.... Scent and you can ump on.] He acted like nothing had happened. Damn them cowboys, always hiding what they felt. But he relized what he was doing. Avoiding the girl he was falling for. He hadn't felt a girl for about a year and half. The ranch took so much out of him.
Dan did feel bad. He softly turned to her with his amazing blue eyes looking over her own eyes and slowly replied a little shacky but firm in surness, [Um... Ahsley.... I aint trying to avoid it... I mean well, I do like. Um well we can talk about it after the lesson.] He smiled is amazing blue orbs. This was one of the first time he has ever been scared shitless from a girl. The last time he was was his first crush in 1st grade. Well except when he was 17... But we wont tal about that accident, atleast not yet.Dan smiled sweetly as he tried not making her emberassed.

Ashleigh quivered as the stud's velvet maw reached for her palm. Closing her eyes, she expected for him to bite, but instead she got a warm wet sloppy kiss. She giggled because it tickled, and she was a very ticklish girl. Opening her eyes she slowly raised her left hand from her side and stroked Carhartt's dial, he was so soft. The sun barely reached above the horizon, so it wouldn't be too warm for their lesson today. That still didn't ease her fright of getting on top of Carhartt's back. He could then get spooked or something and buck her off, sending her flying through midair. Ash offered a small smile toward the stallion, hoping to make friends, and if he hated her, then they would have a hard time while riding for her lessons.
Dan's next words caught her by surprise. He liked what? Her, the kiss? What?! she was so confused, but tried not to let it bother her until after the lesson, when they would chat. It would be hard enough for her to ride for the first time in her life, so she needed all her concentration on her and the horse, and Dan's instructions. When he handed her the black helmet, she grasped it lightly and nervously. Propping it on her head snuggly, she sighed, every moment was bringing her closer and closer to getting on the back of Carhartt. Would she be able to do this right? Or would she screw this up? Her voice was utterly quiet, trying to show him she wasn't afraid, after the moments of silence that had passed.
"Ok, that sounds cool.."
